Responsibilities:

Saint Mary's College invites applications for a part-time Lecturer position in Spring 2011. Responsibilities consist of teaching one course in African-American literature. Study of some aspect of the African-American literary tradition. Examples of possible offerings are: Oral Tradition and Slave Narratives, African American Novelists, the Harlem Renaissance, Contemporary African American Poets. For a qualified candidate, there may be the possibility of a second course in Composition.

Experience and Qualifications:

Candidates should possess an advanced degree in English or a related field, with a specialty in African American literature. A PhD. is preferred. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence, and be skilled at teaching by discussion.
