Description:
Applications are invited this permanent position, for appointment as soon as possible. The successful candidate will join a dynamic project in the Language Development Group in the Academic Development Programme, and work closely with the Numeracy Centre while reporting to the Co-ordinator of the Postgraduate Literacies Project.
Responsibilities involve:
- designing, delivering and evaluating workshops on writing
- training consultants in the Writing and Numeracy Centres on aspects of writing
- advising individual students on the writing of quantitative research
- developing peer research support forums for students
- collaborating with quantitative disciplines to design writing interventions
- undertaking research, preferably on writing in the quantitative disciplines
Requirements include:
- an appropriate postgraduate qualification, preferably a PhD (for consideration at Senior Lecturer level, a PhD and substantial research are normally required)
- at least two years' undergraduate study in a mathematical discipline (e.g. Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics)
- teaching/tutoring/writing centre consultancy experience
- excellent writing and communication skills
- demonstrated relevant experience in the writing of quantitative research
The following would be advantageous:
- a background in education or applied linguistics
- experience in working with a diverse student body
- experience in research capacity development
