The 2011 Saif Ghobash - Banipal Prize for Arabic Literary Translation

Deadline: 31 January 2011

The Prize – from 2009 the sum of £3,000 – is awarded annually to translator(s) for the published English translation of a full-length imaginative and creative work of literary merit translated from the Arabic original.

The Prize

From the 2009 prize, the award to the winning translator was increased to £3,000 by the prize's generous sponsors, Omar Saif Ghobash and his family. The Judges for the 2010 prize met in November and chose the winner and runners-up.

The 2010 Prizewinner and Runners-up will be announced on Monday 31 January 2011 at the Award Ceremony, at King’s Place, London NW1, where the Annual Lecture on the Art of Literary Translation will be given by Ali Smith. Click here for full details of the award ceremony and to purchase a ticket.
