Job description
ADS@NMN advertising department for Rapport, Beeld and Sondag in Johannesburg currently requires the services of a senior journalist in the special projects department. Dynamic individuals with at least five years' relevant experience may apply. The incumbent will report to the manager and editor of Special Projects and Rondrits.
Requirements
. Compile newspaper features and supplements
· Identify and write articles
· Determine, implement and maintain high standards within the department and comply to workflow procedures
· Manage and meet deadlines
· Ensure compliance to legal requirements, particularly regarding media law
· Ensure productivity and that company regulations are strictly adhered to
· Willing to travel (locally and internationally)
Advantageous
. Fluent in Afrikaans
. Good working knowledge of English
· Broad journalistic experience and excellent writing skills
· Experience in text editing
· Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
· Experience as an ombudsman at a newspaper or exposure to it will be advantageous
· Good interpersonal and organisational skills
Personal Skills/Attributes
. Degree / National Diploma in Journalism
· Above-average knowledge of media law, legal processes and ethics
· Basic principles of newspaper management
