Writing competition
In July we are celebrating our heroes, from Madiba to ordinary men and women who are making an extraordinary difference in our communities.
Write and tell us about the extraordinary people are in YOUR community.
They could be teachers, businessmen and women, entrepreneurs, social workers or people who aren't working but are still bringing hope, positive change and solutions to the problems facing the communities in which they live. Tell us all about this extraordinary human being in a poem, essay, article or short story.
Here's what you can win!
* Cash: The three best entries will each win cash prizes (to be announced).
* Celebration: Winners will be invited to attend the ZA Difference Celebration of South Africans who are making a Difference event in Johannesburg on 16 July 2011. Travel, food and accommodation for two nights will be covered.
* Certificates: All participating writers will receive a free certificate of participation.
* Magazine Subscription: Top 20 entries will each receive a free, oneyear subscription to ZA Difference.
* Your name in print: The winning entry will be published in the July issue of ZA Difference. Even if you don't win, you still have the chance of being published in later issues of the magazine. Any work published will be attributed to the author and paid for in accordance with our published rates.
The work must be your own. It must be original, previously unpublished, written in English, and it must be about a real person who can be contacted or who's existence can be verified by other community members.
Poems may not be longer than one page; essays and articles must be between 800 and 1 000 words; short stories must be between 1 000 and 3 000 words.

Entries close 1 June 2011. Please clearly indicate if your submission is a competition entry and send it to editor@zadifference.co.za
