Africa Poetry Competition 2010 (Youth Leadership Project)

YLPA is launching a poetry competition to be judged by our in house Ambassador, poet, motivational speaker Dumi Senda at a fund-raising event to be held in Manchester UK end of September winners will be contacted and prizes sent. This competition is open to anyone who is not a professional poet.

The prizes are: £50 cash for each category just to show our appreciation to the budding poets, with the exception of those in UK, USA,AUSTRALIA who can enter though the prize will be an African artifact.

There are 3 categories: 10- year olds to 18,18-year olds-to the eldest age and the diaspora category,Prices for those in diaspora will be an African Artifact The topics for writing a poem on are:

Education in Africa
Health in Africa
Poverty in Africa
African food
Leadership

The poems must be in English and the name of the writer and country and contact details must appear on the poem.only one entry per person and the poems must be emailed to dumi.senda@live.co.uk. Please start sending entries as soon as possible so that we can work on the final event.Closing date for entries is 17 SEPTEMBER 2010. Please note those present on the day of the event which will be 25 September 2010 will cast the final votes on the best poems. If your poem is shortlisted in the final 5 you will be notified and it will be recited on the day of the event and if you win your money will be sent to you via the bank or western union.
