The Human Color Seeks Poetry for "Heritage" Anthology

Deadline: open

The Human Color is calling all poets, writers, and artists to speak out and submit their poetry to its first edition of Heritage.

We are honored to have our first inaugural edition of Heritage be edited by three very talented and prolific poets: Ms. Mahogany Browne, Mr. Regie Cabico, and Ms. Karen Jaime.

We are launching Heritage with The Human Color itself as the creative prompt. What is "The Human Color," and what does it mean to you? What kind of world does it represent and how is this world similar or different to our present? What are some hopeful signs that we are moving toward such a future, or what are some present problems that indicate that such a move is necessary and important? How do notions of race affect the way we view and treat one another, and how can a universal symbol like The Human Color help change it for the better? Please feel free to address some or all of these questions and use them as an inspirational springboard to define The Human Color for yourself and for all of us. Also, please try to avoid using the actual phrase "The Human Color" in your poem.

Please e-mail poetry@thehumancolor.com including your:

* Submission of a maximum of two (2) typed poems
* First and last name, and pen/performance name if applicable
* City and state and/or country of origin

Please attach your poem in a Microsoft Word .doc file or embed it in the body of your e-mail.

There is no age limit and you do not need to be previously published in order to participate. There is also no geographical limit, and you may submit poetry no matter where you reside.

Selected contributors may be asked to record an audio recital of the poem as well as submit a headshot photo of themselves. Thus, all contributors are expected to be able to provide such material should they be selected.

Selected contributors will receive a free copy of the published anthology as well as a special lifetime discount on the anthology.

We will close submissions once we have received a certain amount of entries, so please make it a priority to submit your pieces!
