Vacancy: Sub-editor for Media Nova SA

Responsibilities

• Check spelling, grammar, style and tone of all copy.
• Check copy to ensure spirit/tone of original is not lost.
• Cut copy to fit layouts.
• Write captions, headers and blurbs where necessary.
• Check article credits, facts and sources; make sure work is original.
• Look out for inconsistencies, contradictions and repetition.
• Help to sign off proofs.
• Reasonable amount of overtime may be required.

Requirements

• At least two years' experience as a sub-editor
• A qualification in English (diploma or degree)
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• A sharp eye for detail
• The ability to stick to deadlines and work well under pressure
• Proficiency in MS Word and Outlook and ability to use the Internet effectively
• Basic knowledge of InDesign
