Vacancy: Sub-Editors for Independent Newspapers, South Africa

INDEPENDENT NEWSPAPERS - CAPE SUB-EDITOR

Independent Production IP, the busy sub-editing department that serves 15 titles in the Independent Newspapers, has a vacancy for an experienced, energetic and ambitious sub-editor in Cape Town.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

* Ensure readable and clean final copy for publication
* Be adept at writing bright, creative headlines
* Be confident in handling copy ranging news briefs and page leads to opeds and features

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

* At least three years newspaper subbing experience
* Have an excellent command of the English language and wide general knowledge
* The ability to design attractive news and feature pages using QuarkXPress and experience with the Atex editorial system will be an advantage.
* The successful applicant will be required to work MondaysFridays 7am-3.30pm.

* Work quickly and accurately
* Have the ability to work efficiently under pressure and to deadline
* Be meticulous and pay careful attention to detail.
