Job Opening: Content Editor (via TQB Resources South Africa)

Location: Cape Town

Introduction

Our client, a large service provider and a market leader in the internet industry, is currently seeking a Content Editor.

Minimum Requirements

The Content Editor will be responsible and accountable for the coherent messaging of all the online portals as well as the social media sites that the company is active on. This includes the procurement and management of content from 3rd parties.

Skills and Competencies:

• Excellent problem solving skills
• Proficient in English and Afrikaans, additional languages will be highly advantageous
• Effective time management skills
• Excellent language and proven writing skills
• Logical thinking
• Able to work independently, as well as part of a team
• Analytical and objective, with meticulous attention to detail
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines in an agile environment
• An excellent knowledge of Media and Compliance laws
• Content sourcing and contract negotiation

Qualifications and Experience:

• A relevant tertiary qualification is preferable
• At least 4-6 years online writing experience
• Practical working experience with DotNetNuke or an OpenSource CMS is required
• Expert knowledge of HTML, JavaScript and CSS
• Practical working knowledge of XML, XSLT will be advantageous
• Portal and Mobile SEO experience essential
• Some artistic / design skills is preferable
• Staff management or mentorship is required
• Willingness to learn new technologies
• Exposure to SCRUM methodology essential

Job Outputs:

• Coherent messaging of all content on the company’s portal
• Management and mentoring on the portal editor
• Contribute to newsletter development
• Liaise with marketing and product owners to position the company’s products in the best way on the portal
• Perform copy and editing on new and existing company’s online channels
• Work with Portal Manager to suggestion and secure content that is relevant to the company’s subscribers from a retention perspective
• Work with the Portal Manager, as well as the Development and Design teams to improve usability and content on the site
• Due to the nature of the site will need to be available outside normal working hours if required
• Will need to grow to get to know the business and product
