The purpose of the position is to work in line with FAIR’s mission to increase the practice of investigative journalism throughout Africa in the interest of the information needs of African audiences, and, in line with that purpose, manage, grow and service FAIR’s African network of investigative journalists. The executive director reports to the board of FAIR. Applications close January 31, 2011.

Responsibilities: To develop and implement strategies to achieve FAIR’s purpose with guidance from the FAIR Board; to plan programmes and daily activities in line with that purpose and guidance; to raise funds to enable FAIR to run its programmes, carry out its activities and fulfill its mission; to run and manage the FAIR office; to report truthfully and regularly to the FAIR Board regarding the implementation of programmes and activities; to be fully accountable for all financial and other management and implement and oversee correct and regular audits, and submit these to the Board as well as to the AGM.
