Job description
Every month you will deliver a newspaper with pertinent information to industry stakeholders. The information you will deliver needs to be accurate, effective and valuable to enable companies, freelancers and suppliers find better ways to do business and grow their market share respectively.
Film Event Publishing is looking for a structured and organized candidate with an excellent eye for detail to take on the role of Copy / Sub Editor. Reporting to the Publishing Editor, the successful candidate will be responsible for subbing, proofing and generating certain content.
Key responsibilities:
• Subbing and proofing copy for all three publications
• Writing original content, conducting interviews, rewriting and reworking of material that is sub-standard
• Writing photo captions, stand firsts, pull quotes, strap lines, headings and cover criers
• Fact checking and verification
• Managing the editorial workflow process and ensuring strict adherence to deadlines
• Contributing to regular pages
• Liaising with internal and external contributors
• Helping to manage advertorial submissions
• Problem-solving with the design team for elements at the page proof stage
• Contributing to the planning of editorial features and content
• Attending certain events in the travel industry as required

Film Event Publishing is small publishing hub focusing on three B2B publications, two newspapers and on glossy magazine. The industries we work in are the film & events industries. We have been a publishing hub for 7 years, however our longest publication has been running for 11 years. We pride ourselves on being industry leaders in communication, true journalism and integrity.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you'll need to have:
• Excellent command of the English language
• Meticulous subbing and proofreading skills
• A relevant qualification
• Minimum of two years subbing or related experience
• Proven writing skills, backed up by a portfolio of work
• The ability to rewrite copy to enhance its readability
• Travel locally and on occasion internationally
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Good management and organisational skills
• Good research skills and the ability to keep your knowledge up to date
• A good understanding and level of familiarity with the web and social media platforms
• Knowledge of Indesign
• The ability to deliver high quality work in a deadline-driven, competitive environment
• A willingness to work unusual hours and attend events after hours where necessary
