A fashion editor oversees and takes an active part in the creation, development and presentation of fashion, beauty, product, decor and portraiture visual productions for HSM's publications. They would report to the Creative Director.

Responsibilities:

• Develop fashion content including trend stories for seasonal campaigns, lookbooks and other fashion editorial
• Provide seasonal trend guidance
• Select featured product appropriate to target customer
• Work closely with the client, art director, in-house or freelance stylists and editor to develop an overall look, feel and voice of a fashion editorial.
• Manage all allocated shoot budgets as allocated from.
• Manage fashion department and in-house stylists and assistants - making sure it runs smoothly and that deadlines are met and systems are adhered to.
• Manage and play an active styling role in magazine cover shoots where necessary.
• Supervise the training of new stylists and mentor those already trained.
• Monitor the sending and receiving of merchandise between the client and the company by the fashion assistants, ensuring associated rules and systems are adhered to.
• Ensure that all clothes/materials are returned in the same condition as received.
• Book photographers, studio, makeup, hair, etc, staying with budget and ensuring only standard rates are quoted for work commissioned.
• Book and cast models
• Brief photographers
• Styles and art direct visual productions
• Provide credits, captions and stockists details, ensuring these are accurate and complete.
• Check information for copy editors
• Sign off invoices on time.
• Ensure that the above happens according to deadlines.

Requirements

• Experience and respected stylist with a minimum of three years as a fashion editor.
• Passionate and knowledgeable about fashion.
• Keeps abreast of trends in fashion
• Able to interpret briefs
• Shows initiative and demonstrates creativity in generating ideas for future fashion pages.
• Experience in managing a department
• Able to work with a strict budget
• Deadline driven
• Work under pressure
• Flexible, energetic and hard working
• Valid driver's license
• Willing to work irregular hours when required.
