Job description
Contribute to the learning materials development process, using your knowledge of publishing production processes and the broader educational context.
Assess manuscripts for publishability (ensure that the manuscript meets publishing production standards).
Manage a portfolio of products efficiently, according to agreed ETAs and budget, and according to quality standards.
Report on production output (cost, quality and time measures) by auditing monthly production results.
Brief resources regarding their project requirements and contract resources, collate supporting documentation needed. Manage the resource team according to their signed contracts.
Maintain publishing quality standards and ensure that final print copies meet set standards.
Timeously communicate problems (related to ETAs, cost and quality) that might occur during the production process.
Co-ordinate permissions and copyright information required, ensuring that the authors have submitted mandatory documents required.
Receive and audit invoices from resources, ensuring that final costs are in line with contractual agreement.
Help set up policies that improve the learning development production process.
Manage and build relationships between ICG and the resources team.
Contributing to the improvement of processes and systems related to learning materials development.
Managing ad hoc projects as required.
Requirements
Tertiary qualification with English or Linguistics as major
Excellent editing and language skills (minimum of two years experience)
PC Literacy - proficient in MS Word
Solid project management skills
Experience in learning material development, educational publishing or a similar field
Knowledge of outcomes-based education and the education environment in South Africa
Knowledge of distance-learning education principles
Advantageous
Afrikaans or Xhosa major will be advantageous
