A leading International mining and exploration company seeks a writer to work in the reporting and media division. The person should have a passion for writing. This is an initial 6 – 12 month contacting role. Individuals will be based in Sandton, but must be willing to travel in Southern Africa (Mostly SA) to visit mining operations with the view to find information for articles.
The person will be:
• Writing of media articles – internal publications and external publications
• Engage with business units and top management to obtain information
• Present ideas to the media
• Promoting the larger company and activities
• Media strategy, plan and implementation
• Media monitoring and circulation
• Drafting and writing articles
• Proof reading and editing
• Media relations and training
• Promotional material, design
• Image and media clip management
• Internal communications write ups and placement into varies publications
Requirements:
• Excellent communication and media writing skills (English)
• High level of emotional intelligence
• Strong presentation skills
• Ability to sell a story
• Ability to study internal publications (annual reports etc) and to report on the general activity (bigger
• picture).
• Knowledge of the publication environment (how to go about to get a story published in the media)
• Ability to liaise with people on all levels to obtain information
• Willingness to travel nationally and abroad (Africa and Europe)
• Willingness to work overtime if required
• Mining background is an added bonus
