Media24 Weekly Magazines is looking for three subeditors for a new weekly news magazine. You will be required to provide support to senior editors and may be required to work on other titles within the weekly magazines division.
The ideal candidate has:
-A tertiary qualification in arts, languages, journalism or related subject
-Spent at least four years as a sub-editor/proofreader at newspapers and/or magazines
-An eye for detail and quality
-A persistent nature and consistency in work approach, standards and methodology
-An avid interest in current affairs (nationally and globally) and expansive general knowledge
-An ability to translate from Afrikaans to English
-Excellent organisational and planning skills
-Ability to meet deadlines
-The ability to work independently but as part of a team, taking direction from a line manager
-An even temperament and the ability to work under pressure and deal with diverse personalities and situations
-An excellent knowledge of - and love for - the English language.
-Perfectionism and tenacity
-The willingness and ability to work overtime if required
-A sound knowledge of editorial principles
